BUILDING YOUR EMERGENCY PLAN (cont.)

Keep up on the news and any recommendations from your county and state emergency planning teams.   Learn about your community’s warning signals, what they sound like and what you should do when you hear them.   Find out what local radio stations provide such warnings.  Know how to find the emergency broadcasting station on your portable or car radio.  Make sure your radio is strong enough to work inside your shelter location.   Listen to weather reports.

2. Establish places to meet.
      Pick two places to meet:

  • A specific outside location on or very near your property in case of a sudden emergency, like a house fire.
  • Outside your neighborhood in case you can't return home.   Everyone should know the address and phone number and how to get there.
